Monostable relay and Bistable relay
Monostable relay:
When the relay is in normal operation, the control voltage loses power, the contact moves, and when the voltage is restored, it returns to the state before the control voltage disappeared. If the power is short-term, if it does not exceed 200ms, the state of the auxiliary contact will not be changed. The monostable relay is suitable for protection equipment that does not monitor the control voltage.
Bistable relay:
When the relay is in normal operation, the control voltage is powered down, and the contacts maintain the state before the power failure, and the state before the power failure after the voltage is restored. Bistable relays are suitable for devices that individually monitor and protect the control voltage.
In short, when a monostable relay is in a stable state, it can switch to a new state after applying a pulse, but it cannot last, and the circuit will return to its original state after a while = pulse applying, contacts act; pulse lose, contact reset
But for bistable relay - After the pulse disappears, this state can still be maintained. Therefore, the bistable relay is more energy-saving, and the coil does not generate heat = pulse applying, contacts act; pulse lose, contact remain.
In view of the above situation, if your equipment needs to constantly switch on and off, such as high-power equipment such as lawn mowers, then monostable relays are very useful. You need to press the button when you need to use it and release it. It can quickly Recovery. And if your device needs to be kept on or off frequently, such as an electric meter, and you just want it to trip when abnormalities such as no credit, then the relay should be normally closed, such as a charging station, you want it to normally work normally , Then the relay is normally closed.
IVY has been focusing on switching since 1984. Among them, bistable relays are latching relays, ranging from 32A to 200A, from coil drive to motor drive, 500mT from metal housing to 500mT with built-in anti-magnetic field, from compliance with CQC, IEC to UC2 / UC3 certification, we never stop. At the same time, our Wanjia star series high-power relays, that is, monostable relays with 7A to 200A, have also received worldwide welcome. Whether you need a monostable or bistable relay, please look for IVY.
