MD0630T41A-1 is a residual current detection sensor for EV charging station. It has the characteristics of high sensitivity, correct measurement, small size and compact/integration design. The residual current monitor can be set separately for AC and DC leakage. When leakage current is detected, an alarm signal is generated, and the switch control signal is output at the same time. It is an automotive grade leakage current sensor from IVY also called residual current monitoring (RCM), residual current detection (RCD), differential current sensor, leakage current detector and fault current sensor. Type A, B and B+, dedicated to detect to DC, AC and DC+AC leakage current measurement. It is intended to detect dangerous residual currents and thereby mitigate the risk of electric shock or fire. In the case of EV charging, there is a risk of AC and DC residual currents, and it is vitally important that the RCD can be used to detect AC and DC residual currents. It can monitors DC (6mA) and AC (30mA) residual currents, and will signal to the Smart EVSE, if a fault occurs.

EV Charging Application
Where the EV supply equipment is equipped with a socket-outlet or vehicle connector for AC use in accordance with IEC 62196(all parts), protective measures against DC fault current shall be taken. The appropriate measures shall be:
Type B RCD or Type A RCD and appropriate equipment that ensures the disconnection of the supply in case of DC fault current above 6mA
In the IEC 61851-1, it is clearly specified that residual current protection in AC charging equipment shall adopt type B or type a +6ma smooth DC RCD. At the same time, it is clearly stated in the relevant IC-CPD standard IEC62752-2018 that the residual current protection device shall detect smooth DC 6mA.
